Step 1: Reserve Your Business Name with ACRA
To begin, every business must register with ACRA. Before preparing the required documents, we recommend reserving and registering the business name online at the ACRA Biz Portal.
Choose a name that is memorable and relevant to your business, and avoid any offensive or misleading terms.

Step 2: Selecting Private Limited (Pte Ltd) as your Business Structure
Of the seven business structures available, we typically recommend that SME owners choose a Private Limited (Pte Ltd) company for its advantages.
Minimum 1 shareholder, 1 director who is a local resident/EP holder, a registered address, and a company secretary.

Step 3: Appoint Mandatory Key Officers
As a foreign business owner, you must comply with several mandatory requirements, most notably appointing a local resident as a company representative.
A Singapore citizen or permanent resident (PR) has to be appointed as director.

Now that you have the documents prepared, you can now complete the ACRA registration through BizFile+ at www.bizfile.gov.sg.
Step 6: Open a Corporate Bank Account
To conduct business transactions, businesses must open a Singapore corporate bank account using the required documents. Singapore offers several digital banks and licensed fintech business accounts that can be faster than traditional banks. Foreigners without a resident director typically register through a local nominee director or corporate services provider.

GST registration is mandatory if annual taxable turnover exceeds SGD 1 million.
